The independent curriculum is a curriculum that aims to develop students' learning potential and interests. This curriculum gives students the freedom to choose their learning interests and reduces academic burden and also encourages teacher creativity. This research aims to determine the implementation of the independent curriculum at Madrasah Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This research uses a qualitative approach with interviews to find out more about the issues of the independent curriculum at Madrasah Mu'allimin and document analysis as a data collection method. The results of this research indicate that the implementation of the curriculum at Madrasah Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta was carried out in stages. So, in the first year it is only applied to first grade MTs and MA. The independent curriculum inherits the spirit of the emergency crisis, namely looking for essential material, making learning prioritize core material. The freedom of an independent curriculum means that learning is not translated into a syllabus, learning can be contained based on connections so that it can be implemented at one time. The Madrasah Mu'allimin national cadre program, which includes character formation in line with educational goals, can now be included in the learning process in formal institutions. As for the challenges in implementing the independent curriculum at Madrasah Mu'allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, namely the transformation from the 2013 curriculum to the emergency curriculum, administrative changes and student diversity.
